Papers concerning the historical interests of Gardner P. Stickney, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, including letters from Chrysostom Verwyst, lectures on figures of the American Revolution, clipped articles on Wisconsin's industries, and notes on Nicholas Perrot and on Wisconsin Indians and their languages; and a 1943 letter from Mrs. Stickney to A. W. Schorger about her husband's interest in birdwatching. The photograph portion of the collection includes images of Stickney and friends at a log cabin and views of the surrounding landscape, probably in Wisconsin, ca. 1900.

Chrysostom Verwyst was born in Holland on Nov. 23, 1841. He emigrated to America with his family in 1848 and settled in Boston. Later his family purchased land in Holland, Wisc. in 1855 where they became farmers. Verwyst attended the Seminary of St. Francis between 1861 and 1865 in Milwaukee and over the next twenty years was assigned to various parishes in Wisconsin.
